Janet was the absolute sweetest, she was so helpful with my coupons and double checked that I had a left and right of each shoe and that the sizes matched, I was in a hurry while shopping so I really appreciated that!! Super friendly customer service and she went above and beyond to assist me :)
Clerks were not in the best mood this morning. One clerk mentioned being by herself all morning at the register, so I get her frustration. She said, she can’t help returns. Another woman and I had a trying time getting help to utilize the restroom. The wait was long to purchase but glad I got what I needed.
I saw two pairs of shoes that I really liked, did not have my size in one and color in the other. Second time I tried. Wonderful selection if you can find your size.
Worst check out wait. Only 2 cashiers waiting on a constant line of 20+ customers. Clearly no care for the time wasted waiting as there are other associates walking around the store.
As a person of mixed black heritage, I recently encountered an incredibly distressing situation at a local store that compels me to speak out against the inherent racism that was blatantly displayed. A white woman, sporting long brown hair and black glasses, acted in an appallingly racist manner, leaving me with no choice but to call for her immediate termination. I implore you, fellow individuals of color, to join me in refusing to support a business that tolerates such despicable behavior, thereby demonstrating our unwavering commitment to our worth as customers.
Approaching her politely, I respectfully sought her assistance, saying, "Excuse me, I'm sorry to bother you..." To my utter dismay, she not only ignored me entirely but also remained fixated on her phone, dismissing my presence without even a glance. However, undeterred, I proceeded to show her a picture of the shoes I had come across at another DSW location, inquiring whether they were available in stock. Her response was astonishingly curt and condescending, as she dismissively replied, "No. We don't." Then laughed as if it was a dumb question or something. Astonishingly, she chose to end our interaction right there, without making any effort to confirm their availability, an action that is typically standard practice.
The distressing part, however, was what followed when my white mother approached her a mere eight minutes later, posing the exact same question. Suddenly, the same employee underwent a baffling transformation. Suddenly helpful, polite, and exuding an uncharacteristic cheerfulness, she went out of her way to search for the shoes in stock. This stark contrast in behavior unambiguously reveals the deeply ingrained racial biases she possesses, ones she shamelessly allows to dictate her treatment of customers.
We cannot allow such abhorrent behavior to persist unchallenged. Until the store takes immediate action and terminates this employee, I firmly pledge to withhold my hard-earned money from supporting a business that turns a blind eye to racist employees. This appalling incident serves as a dire reminder of the urgent need to stand against racial discrimination in every facet of our lives. By vocally rejecting such prejudiced behavior and refusing to contribute to establishments that foster it, we can collectively foster an environment that upholds the dignity and worth of people of color.
Let us make our voices heard, demanding that the store's management address this grave issue with the utmost seriousness. It is imperative that they hold their employees accountable for their actions and implement robust measures to prevent future incidents of racism. Only by actively confronting and rectifying these instances can we hope to cultivate a society that truly cherishes diversity, inclusivity, and equality.
I was prepared to buy 2 pairs of shoes, but I put them down and walked out.
I would have given zero stars but it wasn’t an option.
